Did any of your ancestors attend Christ’s Hospital?

Which CH pupils became notable in later life?

These and other questions can now readily be answered from the pages of the book Christ’s Hospital Pupils 1552–1902, written by Ken Mansell who was at CH between 1953 and 1961. The book gives the names of over 46,500 pupils admitted to the School between 1552 and 1902, together with their years of admission and discharge. The period extends from the founding of CH to the move of the London School to Horsham.

Also covered:

* brief history of CH
* admission arrangements
* historical fluctuations in pupil numbers
* life at the School
* illustrated list of over 900   notable former pupils with brief biographical details

This is a high-quality A4 hardback book of 288 b/w pages containing over 110 illustrations and eight tables. The book provides an important and readily accessible record of the names of pupils who attended Christ’s Hospital which will be of interest to Old Blues in particular and to genealogists and family historians more widely.

The book is published by Ashwater Press in association with Christ’s Hospital and is majority-funded by the CH Museum.
